This document encapsulates the highlights of the research that is put into the full NPS Foundation Documents. The NPS Park Planning Department went to each 411 park in the system and with the park staff collected ideas and research to obtain more federal funding. The Foundation Documents was the end product of the planning efforts, to communicate the unique challenges of each park. This overview was designed to be a quick reference to each park’s values, significant statements and data. Big, beautiful photos were needed to differentiate each park from the others and illustrate the importance, history and geography. The text needed to be easy to navigate with clear typographic hierarchy. A map on the back cover shows how complex the land management of the park is, and its relation to other landmarks.
